We believe that everyone deserves a Y, so the YMCA of the Prairie offers financial assistance to individuals and families who might otherwise not be able to afford membership or program fees.

The YMCA OF THE PRAIRIE in Holdrege was established in 2002 when it took over the operations of Health & Recreation Center (HARC). In 2003, volunteer campaigners began raising money to construct a new YMCA building. In September of 2006, the YMCA moved into its 40,000-square foot facility at 1415 Broadway Street in Holdrege. In 2015, a generous gift renamed this branch to the Don Sjogren Community YMCA. Currently the Don Sjogren Community YMCA serves more than 3,200 members from more than 30 communities in south-central Nebraska.
Holdrege Building Hours
Monday-Thursday, 4:30 AM-10 PM
Friday, 4:30 AM–7 PM
Saturday, 7 AM–7 PM
Sunday, 1 PM-7 PM
Child Watch Hours
Monday-Thursday, 8:30 AM-11:30 AM & 5 PM-8 PM
Friday 8:30 AM-11:30 AM
Summer Hours: May 26th-September 1st will be Monday-Friday 8:30 AM-11:30 AM (no evening hours).
*Holdrege Child Watch is supervised play for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years while parents are participating in activities in the building.

The Y is closed on the following days:
New Years Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day
Closes early on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve
