We believe that everyone deserves a Y, so the YMCA of the Prairie offers financial assistance to individuals and families who might otherwise not be able to afford membership or program fees.

In 2007, community leaders in Lexington, Nebraska, met with the idea of developing a community recreation center. After much research, they decided the the YMCA had the history, support and model to best fit what the community needed. In 2009, the YMCA of Lexington was recognized as a Branch Association by the YMCA of the USA. In 2010, the YMCA converted a former library at 103 E. 10th St. into a temporary exercise facility. In October of 2012, Lexington leaders broke ground on a new YMCA facility that is attached to the Lexington Middle School. Orthman Community YMCA officially opened its doors on October 20, 2014.
Lexington Building Hours
Monday-Friday, 4:30 AM-10 PM
Saturday, 7 AM–7 PM
Sunday, 1-6 PM
Child Watch Hours
Monday-Friday, 8-11 AM
Monday-Thursday, 5-8 PM
*Lexington Child Watch is supervised play for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years while parents are taking part in activities in the building.
Holiday Schedule
The Y is closed on the following days:
New Years Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day
Closes early on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve
