After much research, they decided the the YMCA had the history, support and model to best fit what the community needed. In 2009, the YMCA of Lexington was recognized as a Branch Association by the YMCA of the USA. In 2010, the YMCA converted a former library at 103 E. 10th St. into a temporary exercise facility. In October of 2012, Lexington leaders broke ground on a new YMCA facility that is attached to the Lexington Middle School. Orthman Community YMCA officially opened its doors on October 20, 2014.
