Father-Daughter Dance

The Father-Daughter dance is an annual event in February that allows dads and daughters to connect and form lasting bonds with dancing, dinner and fun.

Mother-Son Event

A mother-son event is planned each spring to allow moms and sons to spend time together in a fun activity.

Nerf Wars

Offered for kids in grades K-8 several times a year with various themes.


Healthy Kids Day

Healthy Kids Day is a national YMCA event that takes place at YMCAs around the country each April. It’s a FREE event to allow families to learn about YMCA programs and activities.

Healthy Kids Day Run

This one-mile fun run is offered in conjunction with Healthy Kids Day. It encourages kids in grades K-8 to stay active as they prepare for this fun race.

Outdoor Movie

Families enjoy a movie under the stars at this annual FREE event in August.



YMCA at the Dawson County Fair

The YMCA sponsors a free childcare play area and other fun games and activities each evening during the fair in July.



Transportation Celebration

Annual event that brings more than 30 vehicles for kids to climb on and explore. Kids can see firetrucks, combines, semis, airplanes and more! The event includes food and other entertainment.

Adult Expo

The Adult Expo takes place in July and offers adults a chance to connect with professionals such as dentists, eye doctors and attorneys to learn about important healthcare needs.


Monster Mash

The Monster Mash is the YMCA’s annual Halloween-themed party and includes games, snacks and haunted fun. Takes place in late October.

Teen Fall Ball

Teens in grades 6-8 enjoy music, dancing and fun each fall at the Fall Ball. Adult supervision is provided.

Holiday Hayrack Ride

This annual event is offered free to the public as a special gift from the YMCA. The event features a horse-drawn hayrack ride, hot cocoa and cozy family memories.

The Holiday Craft & Vendor Shows

Brings crafters from across the area to the Orthman Community YMCA. The show is free to the public and takes place in November.
